What is an Acoustic Neuroma?
An acoustic neuroma, more correctly called a vestibular schwannoma, is a benign tumour that grows on the eighth cranial nerve. This nerve carries information about hearing and balance from the ear to the brain.

- An acoustic neuroma is a benign tumor.
- It can be treated by microsurgical removal, by radiosurgery, or managed by observation.
- Sometimes the tumor's growth pattern and/or treatment affect nearby cranial nerves and brainstem.
